Tutoring

In 1996, while pursuing my MFA, I did some part time work as an SAT instructor for Kaplan. I rose through the ranks quickly, not only broadening my areas of expertise to teach several other exams but also joining their cadre of private tutors. By the end of my second year, I was recognized a “star” teacher and assigned to become one of their teacher trainers.

Soon after, I realized it would be best for me to set out on my own. For the past thirteen years, I have been working independently as a private tutor, specializing in the SAT and ACT exams, preparing my students not only for the exams, but for the entire application process, including portfolios, short and long form personal essays, college selection/compatibility, and individualized counsel.

I also regularly tutor for the LSAT, GMAT and GRE exams, as well as all the high school entrance examinations, including the Science High School exam, the Hunter exam, SSAT, ISEE, and others.

During this time I have worked with well over 500 students, many of whom were accepted by such top-tier schools such as Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Brown, NYU, University of Pennsylvania, Amherst, Cornell, University of Chicago, to name just a few.

References available upon request. I have not advertised my services in almost ten years, and rely solely on the satisfaction of previous clients to help spread the word.

  1. I’m curious about your tutoring services-must they be in person. I’m getting information for my 14 year old daughter and we live in Los Angeles. Thank you!
    I love your website too!

    • Hi Sonia,

Thanks for writing, and visiting my website! I’m curious to know how you came across my site. Did you hear about my book from someone? If you did, you should know that I will be doing a reading in Los Angeles towards the end of July…

Tutoring doesn’t have to be in person–it can be done via Skype. What kind of tutoring were you looking for?

      Best,

      Eric
